In the Ninth Ward 2013
In August 2013, I spent an afternoon driving around the 9th Ward, taking photographs and talking with a friend about how what we were doing could be perceived as "disaster tourism." It was raining a lot of the time, and it seemed to me that the rain in the Ninth Ward was more intense than in other areas of the city.
I was curious and I felt an obligation to see for myself what had happened in this fated, fabled neglected area of New Orleans.
My photographs are not intended to represent the Ninth Ward, but they are certainly of it, and they represent my curiosity about the colors, shapes, details, textures of the place.
